Matthew R. Endara, MD

Dr. Matthew Endara has completed residency and is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. Dr Endara received his undergraduate degree in Neurosciences from Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois.  He then obtained his medical degree from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago Illinois where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  Dr. Endara will complete his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Georgetown University in Washington DC where he has trained under internationally famous leaders and innovators in the field.

The integrated plastic surgery training program at Georgetown University is distinguished as one of the premier residency programs in the country due to the breadth of experience and specialized instruction in the fields of wound care under Dr. Christopher Attinger, microsurgical breast reconstruction under Dr. Maurice Nahabedian, prosthetic based breast reconstruction under Dr. Scott Spear, and hand surgery under Dr. James Higgins and the Union Memorial Hospital Hand Surgery Department.  Through training at this institution Dr. Endara is especially well equipped to perform all aspects of reconstructive and cosmetic operations.

Throughout his residency Dr. Endara has been recognized by his superiors and peers for outstanding performance in clinical rotations earning him formal recognition through an award for his performance in wound care and limb reconstruction as well as being named administrative chief during his final year an honor bestowed on one resident per year.  Dr. Endara has presented his research at several national meetings and authored many peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters covering a variety of topics in the field of plastic surgery including reconstructive breast surgery, wound care, limb reconstruction, peripheral nerve and headache surgery, as well as aesthetic surgery of the face.  His research on the relationship between wound healing and diabetes has garnered national media attention through stories in the Wall Street Journal, Yahoo News and several additional website news organizations.

While committed to excellence in all facets of plastic surgery his special interests include breast reconstruction through the use of both implants and the body’s own natural tissues using microsurgical technique, as well as body contouring, breast augmentation and facial cosmetic procedures.  He is also particularly well trained in the fields of abdominal wall reconstruction and lower extremity salvage and reconstruction.  Dr. Endara is conversationally fluent in Spanish.
